FOND DU LAC — This is the time for learning more about and destigmatizing mental illness, as it affects many in Fond du Lac County. October is Depression Awareness Month, with the first week signaling Mental Illness Awareness Week. With so many members of the community involved in the area's workforce, we asked ourselves: How are Fond du Lac's businesses looking out for their employees' mental health? What we learned is many employers offer health insurance among their benefits that covers mental health treatment, as well as an Employee Assistance Program with assessments and counseling, but several businesses are looking at other ways to keep their employees at their best and avoid burnout.
